Submissions FAQ

Why should I submit my fiction to FFW?

In a word: Exposure.

If you have ever thought "I'd like to be a writer", then getting your writing read by actual people (who aren't related to you) is crucial.

Right now, FFW is still a newborn blog, but I'd like to grow with you! When your fiction is featured, I share it to my entire network on Google+, Facebook, and Twitter at least 3 times. If you share the post to your network, you are significantly increasing the number of people who will see, and in turn, share the post. (Those links are for FFW's social pages - make sure you're a follower on your preferred networks, so you don't miss out!)

What are the submission guidelines

  • Ideally, submissions should be between 800 and 1000 words, but I will accept submissions up to 1200 words. Submissions that exceed 1200 words will not be accepted.
  • Submissions should display a degree of quality writing. It should not contain blatant misspellings or typos. While I will make an pass at proofreading the submission, I am not an editor. Please, keep in mind that it will be your name on display next to your work. Submit work that you are proud to show off
  • You can submit up to 2 entries at a time, but until you've had a submission accepted, please only send 1 at a time.
  • I will do my best to respond to all entries within one week. However, I can not predict the future. If you haven't received a response within 10 days of submitting your work, feel free to email me. Please do not follow up prior to 10 days.
  • All writing submitted is required to be your own work. By volunteering a submission, you are claiming that the writing is yours and yours alone. Plagiarism will result in removal of any previously approved submissions, regardless of ownership, and being permanently banned from FFW.
Submissions should be sent to uncopiedlife {at} gmail {dot} com with the following:
  • Subject line: "FFW Submission: [Title of your submission]" Entries submitted with the incorrect subject line are very likely to be overlooked, so make sure you submit it correctly.
  • The genre of your piece. Cross genres are okay. All genres are accepted, aside from hardcore erotica. If it could be called porn, it won't be accepted. It doesn't have to be G rated, but lets leave out the XXX's.
  • A bio to be included at the end of the post. Your bio should include a brief description of yourself or your writing, a link to your website (or social network profile), and a link to the social media site of your choosing. If you're a published writer, please do not include a direct link to Amazon or any other similar site. A picture of yourself is optional.
  • Image is optional, but if you choose not to include one, I will select an image for you. If you decide to include one, you must send the flickr Creative Commons link with your submission. If you do not want to use Flickr for an image, then you must submit proof that you are authorized to use the image. The image must be relevant to your writing. I reserve the right to refuse your image.  Nude photos will not be accepted.
Copyright
  • You will retain copyright of all writing submitted to FFW. However, by sending in a submission, you are granting Flash Fiction Weekly the right to display your writing on FFW for as long as FFW exists.
Expectations
  • You will be notified of the air date of your submission at least one week in advance. On the date it airs, it is expected that you will act as if this post were on your own blog by: being available to reply to comments received on your post, sharing the post to social networking sites of your choice, and/or mentioning on your own blog. Consider this as you would any guest post on any other site. Remember to share the post a couple times to maximize your exposure. However, please do NOT spam your readers.

Good luck and can't wait to read your flash fiction!
